a straight knitting loom for hats?

Hi Experienced Knitting Board Enthusiasts!

Can I knit hats with a straight knitting board?

I want to get a good loom, preferably not a plastic one.

Thanks for answering my question so quickly and letting me know! I am pretty excited about the knitting board. I have the knifty knitter currently, and I made a cute baby cocoon for a newborn. I am a postpartum nurse, so I am making them for my patients that can't keep their temperatures regulated. Now they'll be extra cute, as well as toasty!

I only have the round and long looms - but since I can do in the round, or flat panels (not joined) (which I then seam/join together,) I don't see why not! Jen
