Baby Sling

by Cassi

My friend would like for me to loom knit a baby sling for her 3 week old. I am a little unsure of how to do this. My idea was to possibly create the sling on the largest Boyle Rond Loom (like a deep pink,I cant remember but i think it is a 40 peg loom). I was thinking of knitting about 8-10 inches on 20 pegs then increasing to the full 40 pegs for where the baby will be cradled for another 20-30 inches (depending on the length of the child) and then decreasing to 20 pegs for an additional 8 inches. I was then going to knit the ends together to form a loop. This will be my first time attempting a project without a set pattern. Ideas? Thoughts? Help?

I have though about this also. I would try it and see how it turns out. the worse happens is you frog it. My only concern is will the yarn hold the baby and how snug it will be to the mother. Having made purses the don't hold up to this being put in them. They tend to streach and not keep its shape.
