Beginner to using a loom - K1P1 rib hat

by Samantha
(Illinois)

Hello everyone! I've just started using a loom last night, and the instructions that were included are only for the knit stitch, and I am looking for how to do the K1P1 stitch for a hat using the loom. The loom has 48 pegs.

My question, however, is: when I start my first round, let's say I begin using the kit stitch, when I reach the end of that row/round, do I keep using the knit stitch on the first peg and purl stitch on the second?
For some reason I was thinking I need to alternate between stitches, but I wanted to double check. I've also looked up a few videos, so I know how to do the sticthes, just not sure if I follow the stitch on each peg as the previous row/round...

Help is much appreciated!

Beginner - Rib stitch - NEW
by: Jen Tavernier

Hi Samantha!

If you look closely at mikes hat, you will notice that the rows are vertical - so you want to keep all your knits on one peg, and all your purls in their place. (pegs) You will see a wonderful pattern emerging as it gets longer.

Here are some links that will really get you flying!

I forgot to add.... NEW

I meant to add a picture of Mike Nesmith wearing his wool hat. I'm trying to get that ribbed effect and I don't know if I'm supposed to alternate stitches on the pegs each row.
