Call Me Crazy

I am a collector of skills- loom knitting is one of them. I'm an artist/designer- at least I think I am. My materials have always been left overs, cast offs and interesting things I find. I sew, do woodworking, sculpting and I am a former professional picture framer.

All that said, I have only made one item- a scarf- on a long loom. I enjoyed the process and had plans to start another project. But I work on several projects of all kinds simultaneously. I was just starting to coil a braided rag rug but it was hard on my hands and because my brain is always occupied with design ideas and methods, I hit on an idea and took off running. I built a 36" loom and I unbraided 300 ft of braided fabric strips and loom knit a small square rug. I love it. Thick and plush, it's so comfy on my feet. So, would you call me crazy?

...crazy fox NEW
by: Kim

I used scrap wood- 2x4's - and wood pegs- freebies I had acquired. But then, most every design or art project I do is created with scrounged materials. I have since made an even longer loom with smaller pegs placed closer together. I am planning to post photos of both looms after I finish a fleece throw I have almost finished.
