Emilie

I am just beginning knitting, and I got started because I want to knit wool stockings (socks) for myself. I have a set of round looms by Provocraft. Is it possible to knit stockings on a round loom, or must I purchase a loom specifically for stockings?

Thank you for your help.

Sock Ideas NEW
by: Marilyn G.

Hi,
Perhaps you have received an answer but if not, I have some ideas. You can loom knit socks using the round looms but if using a knifty knitter type, the pegs are too far apart unless you want a very bulky, thick slipper type sock. Loom pegs need to be close together and yarn very fine weight for most socks done on a loom. However, Authentic Knitting Board company makes a loom you can use with 4 ply worsted weight yarn, Kiss Loom company offers one too and maybe other Companies. Do an internet search using "sock loom patterns", "sock looms", and you will find many ideas an suggestions. Watch for sales and many times you can get a sock loom on sale at a craft store.

Knitting socks on Knifty knitters NEW
by: Jenny Tavernier

Emelie,

Yes! Totally possible. They will have a larger gauge than regular (sock loom socks, but I have done several pairs that wok great in my boots, and also as tube socks and slippers.

Please check these links out, and come join us.

Here are the 214 peg ewrap socky slippers - vid that is very useful. (Pam Loomer) These are from the 24 peg loom. There are also way to make them in a knit stich - (smaller), but these are great to get the idea!
