I remember having one years ago - a 2 minute wonder - (ah but I was young and busy!) Not a knit crochet type - more reenactment costumes.
Last Christmas, a friend brought me a wool hat to wash, and being more discerning, I was fascinated by the symmetrical quality of the knitting - he said his friend made it! On a plastic round loom! Honestly, I had never known anyone who actually made anything on these - He said he'd spot me a set if I would make a hat for his brother's birthday - I JUMPED!
Never having heard of e wrap, I went to youtube, and was absorbed -WOW! Alive and flourishing! I churned out hats, figured out fingerless mitts, and then saw a vid on Mukluks -
Literally hooked!
Once you get the basics down, and wrap tension, there is nothing you can't do on them - Fast and easy, and finally progressed to garter stitch, stockinette and purling, etc.
I also found the "stretchy" cast off/binding - which opened up everything. I love these things! (And I am still not a knitty/crochet person!) I like useful things, and this has it in spades! Fast!
What I Would like to see:
Better written directions covering the 3 stitches and alternate binding/cast off, above - a little history thrown in,
and the loom clip idea for the round looms, when you just really could use 2 or 3 more pegs - (for in the round things)
I figured out flat panel on my own - (practice leads to ideas!)
I also wish there was a shorter fatter loom pick - (but that is just my hand)
These things totally rock! I will be getting a small long loom with clips for changing sizes.
