how to read loom patterns

I am a beginner but I love this loom thing. I can do the ewrap and straight stitch. The stockinette is a little difficult. I don't understand how to read the patterns. Is there a video that can show me and walk me through it? Also I want to make a hat but don't like the bulky brim. Any suggestions?

youtube is my #1 go to place when I want to learn how to do something. I need to have visuals! If you type in knitting loom you'll find all kinds of videos. My favorite ones are from mikeyssmail, he explains things VERY well. I do find most of the videos go a bit to fast for me so I do a lot of pausing and watch some parts over again. I also find I do better when I use the full screen option to watch the videos.
