Knitting Loom Tool
Knitting Loom Tool: What is it?A knitting loom tool, also called a pick, hook, or "hookie-thing" (by my kids) is a handheld type of stick with a curved, hook-like end. Any kind of hook with a handle can be used, but there are certain designs that are definitely more user-friendly. |
| The one you see in the picture below is one that my family made using a dental pick and some clear plastic tubing for cushion. It works great, but it's really sharp.

Knitting Loom Tool: How do I use it?

It is used in loom knitting to slide behind the yarn (see picture), pick it up and pull it over the peg.
Knitting Loom Tools: Where can I get them?
I've used many different styles of knitting loom tools, including many variations of improvised ones like the tool shown above. | Some army supply type stores carry bins of little hooks and tools similar to this and that can be used very easily as knitting loom tools. My favorite knitting loom tool is one that I purchased from Decor Accents a few years ago. Also, Knifty Knitter is now providing a tool with their looms. I've never used it myself, but maybe someone out there who has would like to review it below. | |
