Making the perfect size hat using the knitting loom

I want to make a hat for my mother that fits her head well, and I found a chart that I can use to get the correct size, but if I am only using a certai amount of pegs to make the hat on the loom, how does this work? Do I have to sew the sides together with yarn when I'm done using the loom?

If you are making a flat panel (not connected) - yes, you will need to seam them together. If you are working on a round loom. depending on the stitch you are using, remember that there is always a degree of stretch, so that you might save yourself some time.

a good rule of thumb, if you can, is place the loom itself on the person's head, and if it basically fits down over the crown a bit, it will work! Or measure - (as the kk looms all whave a certain diameter - see more below)

Also, remember that what comes out is going to "shrink a bit as the knitted facric comes off, so the stretch factor is inherent - and makes it cozy to fit. Jen
