Preemie Baby Gift Ideas?

I would like to buy a How to knit book for a friend who wants to knit for her new baby girl that was born with a congential heart defect.

Can you please suggest something for me to give a new mother of a baby girl with congential heart defect. She wants to knit for her while she's in the Children's hospital. Her baby only weighs 3 lbs.
