Single knit scarf without curling

by Lola

I am looking to single knit a scarf, but all the times I have tried, the scarf always curls. What kind of stitches or patterns can I use to single knit a scarf that won't curl?

I had the same problem. I found a video on U-tube - Strengthening the Edges in Loom Knitting.

I could write down how to do it, but it would be better for you to watch the video.

Do this on the bottom edge after you have knitted about 3 inches. This should help.

Directions:
1) leave a 36 inch tail before putting slip knot on anchor peg
2) It is best to make 1st row tight using the straight knit stitch.
3) use a crochet needle and put 1st loop on crochet needle. Put yarn tail over the needle and pull yarn thru loop. You have 1 loop on needle.
4) Put next loop on needle - you have 2 loops. Put yarn tail over needle and pull yarn tail through 2 loops. Continue to end, knot, and weave in.

Are you knitting and purling? knit at least 5 times each row before purling.
