Smaller Thread




I have a lot of afghan weight thread that I have been given and would like to be able to use with a knitting loom. I have not found one that is small enough yet. Any suggestions as to where to find one? Or can someone make one???

woow - never even thought of that -
I am assuming you are speaking of the gauge - (like my knifty knitters are definitly way bigger, unless you triple, etc the thread)

Have you tried a sock loom? - also, yes, you can make your own looms - I have one I made from a wooden ring, and used cotter pins (hardware store) because I needed a finer gauge AND in-the-round width - you can also use floral u-pins, and styrofoam rings (different sizes and density)- (get styro cement to reinforce the holding power for the pins, because of the tension. Look for u pins in the patio or garden section - they are beastly to find online, as they are called several different things - . I found mine at walmart for a buck - (enough for 3 looms ) I also made a smaller loom base out of sculpy, with the floral Upins in it when I baked it - It is holding up VERY well - good luck!
